When God calls people, He purifies them before sending them into the field to serve Him. God accepts people as they are, but He never leaves them unchanged. A fellow can go to God with many sinful attitudes and behaviours, but if the fellow wants to be useful for His service, he or she has to let go of such impurities.
Beloved, God loves you the way you are, but He cannot use you the way you are if your life is full of sin. To be useful in His vineyard, you must allow Him to purify you. Even if you have been cleansed and have become useful in God’s service, He is calling you to a higher level of consecration. This is because the more purified a person becomes, the more useful he or she will be to the Master.
In , Isaiah had a vision in which he saw the Lord. Before that time, he had given several prophecies to the Israelites. He was a useful vessel in the Master’s hand, but God wanted him to come into a position of higher service. In his vision, he saw the Almighty God sitting upon His throne and realised how filthy he was. Even though he had been serving God up to that time, he was still filthy. A child of God who is still dealing with certain weaknesses can be used of God at a certain level; however, if the Lord would use such a person for His highest purposes, He would first purify him or her some more. When Isaiah saw the Lord, he cried out, “Woe is me! For I am a man of unclean lips.” He knew that he would not qualify for God’s higher calling if he remained in that state. I pray that the Lord will visit you and purify you for His higher purposes, in Jesus’ name.
Today’s Bible reading tells us the kinds of vessels we can find in God’s great house. There are vessels of gold and silver, which can be used for higher purposes, as they have undergone the fire of purification, and vessels of wood and earth for lesser uses. God doesn’t determine the kind of vessel you will be; you determine that yourself by how far you allow Him go in purifying you. says that those who purge themselves will become vessels unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the Master’s use, and prepared unto every good work. Beloved, God is ready to promote you to His higher service if you surrender yourself to His purification.
