God needs the legs of believers so that they can take the gospel all over the world. In today’s Bible reading, Jesus’ instruction was: “Go ye therefore…” True children of God cannot just sit in their comfort zones and think it’s the best they can do to serve God. If you are a worker in your local church, that is good; however, that’s still your comfort zone. Have you ever gone on a mission trip before? Have you ever shared the gospel with prisoners? Have you ever visited an orphanage to share the love of Christ with orphans? Have you ever visited slums to preach the gospel to the indigent and downtrodden? If you answered ‘Yes’ to some or all of these questions, may I ask how long ago you did those things or how often you do them? God needs your legs to carry Him to these places and help draw the people there to Him. says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
tells us the story of the Samaritan woman who encountered Jesus by the well. After Jesus shared the good news of salvation with her, the Bible says that she went on her way into the city to tell all the men there, “Come, see a man, which told me all the things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?” She immediately put her legs to good use in spreading the gospel. God wants you to do the same; your legs should spread the gospel.
I recall an elderly man I met in Papua New Guinea who was filled with joy after hearing the gospel. With joyful tears in his eyes, he held my hand and said, “Thank you for travelling this distance to bring the joy of salvation to me.” Nothing gives more satisfaction than being the reason someone is going to heaven rather than hell. The Bible says that there is joy in heaven over any sinner who repents ().
Beloved, the Lord wants you to use your legs to proclaim the joy of salvation to those who are in darkness. says, “For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.”
