Men are at the root of their families. In other words, whatever a man allows into his life will be passed on to every other member of his family. For example, in , Gehazi’s greed brought leprosy upon himself and his descendants. In , the men who planned to destroy Daniel were not thrown into the den of lions alone; they were thrown in there with their families. Even if their wives had been strongly against what they did, it did not matter; as long as the men had committed the offence, their entire families suffered for it. This is why men must be very cautious of their actions.
In today’s memory verse, the Bible says that sin came into the world by one man. However, if you read , you will see that it was not a man who first sinned but a woman. If you read that Scripture carefully, you will notice that after the woman sinned, she did not realise that they were naked; however, the moment the man also ate the forbidden fruit, their eyes were opened all of a sudden. If you are a man, you must never allow anything that is outside the will of God into your home, even if your wife suggests it. If she insists and sins, the family is not yet in trouble; the man can still intercede for her redemption. The moment you also indulge in that sin, however, you expose your family to the enemy.
Beloved, God does not define men the way the world defines them. God defines a man by his ability to walk in righteousness, lead correctly, and stand in the gap in prayer for his family. God is looking for men who will influence their generation to be righteous. Unfortunately, many men today are physically present in the home but spiritually absent in the place of prayer. Some are strong in their workplaces but weak at the altar of prayer. Many are successful in business but failing in character. Real men don’t just provide for their families; they lead their children and household to serve God.
For every man reading this, God will help you to be a man indeed, in Jesus’ name. If you are a woman, please pray for the men in your life, especially your husband and/or father. Pray that God will help them to lead your home aright so they will not allow any form of evil into your family.
