DELAY IS NOT DENIAL

Memory Verse

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Some Christians pray and give God an ultimatum to give them a miracle. They say things like, “God, if you don’t give me this thing by ‘so and so’ date, you will see what I will do.” What can they possibly do to the Creator and Owner of heaven and earth?

Anyone who wants to receive a miracle from God must knock on His door with a humble heart. The fact that the answer to a prayer is not forthcoming as expected does not mean that God has not answered it. In today’s Bible reading, God answered Daniel’s prayer from the very first day he began praying; however, the answer was delayed by the prince of Persia. Thankfully, Daniel did not get angry or start saying the wrong things. He stayed in the place of prayer, and eventually, he received God’s answer to his prayers.

Beloved, if it appears as if your miracle is being delayed, don’t give up; hold on to God. In fact, the Lord is probably already on His way with your miracle. In , Jairus approached Jesus and asked Him to come and lay hands on his daughter, who was sick. However, many people thronged Jesus, leading to a delay in His visit to Jairus’ house. Thankfully, Jairus did not turn around to start insulting Jesus for not giving him a miracle when he was expecting it.

Child of God, you might have been attending several programmes and praying for a divine intervention, but it seems as if God has not answered. I want you to know that He has heard, and your answer is on the way. I have realised that many times when a miracle is delayed, it is so that the testimony will be bigger. If Jesus had arrived on time, Jairus’ daughter would have been healed; however, being healed is not as big a miracle as being resurrected from the dead. Lazarus’ name was mentioned in the Bible because he died and was in the tomb for four days before Jesus arrived to raise him from the dead.

Today’s memory verse tells us that all things work together for good to them that love God. Beloved, delay is not denial. Things may look bad now, but God can see tomorrow already, and He knows that you will emerge victorious. I pray that you will experience a miracle that is so remarkable that the time spent waiting for it will pale in comparison to the joy in your heart.

Key Point:

Sometimes, when a miracle is delayed, God is working out a bigger one.

Hymn

Title: ‘TIS SO SWEET TO TRUST IN JESUS

1. ’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise;
Just to know, “Thus saith the Lord.”

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er!
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more!

2. O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to trust His cleansing blood;
And in simple faith to plunge me
’Neath the healing, cleansing flood!

3. Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life and rest, and joy and peace.

4. I’m so glad I learn’d to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, saviour, Friend,
And I know that Thou art with me,
Wilt be with me to the end.
