Message

God’s Word created all things, and nothing was made that His Word did not create (). God also endowed man’s tongue with creative power because He made man in His image (). This is why states that life and death are in the power of the tongue. Today’s memory verse also says that a man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth. This implies that you should expect whatever you say about yourself to become your reality. For example, if all a fellow sees and speaks is failure, he or she should expect to be satisfied with failure. This is why you must be mindful of what you say about your life, whether you are extremely happy or sad. You must ensure that you do not speak out of emotion, because your words have the potential to accomplish what you say.

Apart from your own words, the words of those in authority over you can also sow seeds that can create the results you see in your life. For example, Rachel would have created a sad life for her second son, whom she named Benoni (meaning son of sorrow), because of her experiences during his birth. Thankfully, Jacob used his position of authority to change his name to Benjamin, which means ‘the son of my right hand’ (). Jabez’s mother was another person in the Bible who allowed her pain to influence the words she spoke into the life of her son. She let the sad circumstances surrounding her son's birth influence her to name him ‘Jabez’, which Bible scholars have interpreted to mean ‘sorrow or pain’. Thankfully, Jabez called on God to turn his story around for good, and God answered his prayer (). If you are a parent, do not allow any pain you might be going through to determine what you speak into the lives of your children. Your words have creative and destructive powers, so please speak only positive words into their lives.

Beloved, on the day of judgment, you will be required to give an account of every idle word that comes out of your mouth (), so you must be careful of the pronouncements you make over your life and the lives of others. If, however, your words or those of the people in your life have sown negative seeds in your life, I pray that God will overturn them, in Jesus’ name.

Prayer Point

Father, please let the blood of Jesus silence every negative voice speaking against my life and destiny, in Jesus’ name.

Hymn

Title: ANCIENT WORDS

1. Holy words long preserved
For our walk in this world
They resound with God's own heart
Oh, let the ancient words impart

Chorus:

Ancient words, ever true
Changing me and changing you
We have come with open hearts
Oh, let the ancient words impart

2. Words of life, words of hope
Give us strength, help us cope
In this world, where e'er we roam
Ancient words will guide us home

3.Holy words of our faith
Handed down to this age
Came to us through sacrifice
Oh, heed the faithful words of Christ

4.Holy words long preserved
For our walk in this world
They resound with God's own heart
Oh, let the ancient words impart
